HERITAGE

When agricultural operations are sustainably managed, they not only preserve and restore critical habitats, but help to improve soil health and water quality, encouraging flora and fauna. By 2028, farmers in England will sustainably produce healthy food profitably without subsidy, whilst taking steps to improve the environment, improve animal health and welfare and reduce carbon emissions.

Sustainable agriculture is productive, competitive and efficient while at the same time protecting and improving the natural environment.  For us to achieve this, JS Scholes has set and is committed to support the following principles.

  • Produce crops with high yields and nutritional quality to meet existing and future needs while keeping resource inputs as low as possible.

  • Ensure that any adverse effects on soil, water, air quality and biodiversity from agricultural activities are minimised and positive contributions are made where possible.

  • Optimise the use of renewable resources while minimising the use of non-renewable.

  • Complying with all relevant environmental legislation and other applicable requirements.

  • The use of Integrated Farm Management (IFM) and Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) to deliver more sustainable practise on a whole farm basis.

  • Ensure all parties we work with understand the J S Scholes environmental policy and beliefs.
